USA have declassified documents of 1975 with the first Margaret Thatcher’s characteristics after her election as the leader of Conservative party of the Great Britain. State secretary Henry Kissinger was reported, that Thatcher – is "the typical provincial matron", in addition "awfully English". Diplomats expressed doubt that she can ever head the British government. In the document under the name "Margaret Thatcher: first impressions" the analyst of USA embassy wrote that the leader of conservatives is the true speaker of "the worried bourgeois", but hardly can represent the British nation as a whole. Speaking about Thatcher, American diplomats admitted her honesty, frankness and fidelity to her belief. As they say in archival documents of the Department of state, she possesses alive and deep mind, but is inclined to rigidity and excessive care of minor details. Besides in papers "irreproachable appearance, authoritative manner, formal and partly feigned charm, and first of all, a sonorous voice" of the future British prime-minister is marked. Declassified documents testify that in the middle 70s the Department of state in a greater degree counted on cooperation with France. Its government was headed at that time by future president Jacque Chirac. He has received the most flatter reviews of the American diplomats - "the young bright politician" and " the brilliant young technocrat" who "is fascinated by United States".
